Altai Krai is one of the five most ecologically safe regions of Russia
Russian public organization "Green Patrol" made an environmental list of Russian regions by the end of spring 2015. Altai Krai shared fifth place with Ulyanovsk Oblast, received 54 positive reviews out of 100 (the leader, Tambov Oblast, has 64).
"Ten of the leaders of the rating has hardly changed. Traditionally, top the list are Tambov, Belgorod, Tomsk, Kursk Oblasts, the Altai Republic, Chuvashia, the Chukotka Autonomous Area and Altai Krai. Ulyanovsk Oblast took the fifth place for the first time", noted the authors of the ranking.
According to the Chairman of the "Green Patrol" Andrey Nagibin, the main problem in the region is processing of household waste. He noted the need for work on garbage sorting, organizing waste treatment and waste incineration enterprises.
In Altai Krai, this work is going on for several years: projects of distribution chain with municipal solid waste are included in "Maps of needs" as a priority for business development in urban and rural areas of the region.
The region has a long-term target program "Development of the waste management system of production and consumption in Altai Krai" for 2012-2016 and until 2020. It provides for the expense of the regional budget to develop an integrated waste management schemes in the region, the organization of training of employees of enterprises and other activities.
Every year, businesses receive funds in the realization of investment projects in the direction of "Clean Municipality" in the Governor's grants in the field of economy.
