Altai Krai: how does tourism develop in the region?

As noted in the Regional Department of the Development of Tourist-Recreational and sanatorium-resort complexes, in the Krai there was a shift fr om extensive way of using tourism resources to intensive, which significantly decreases the percentage of “wild” and conventionally organized tourism and increases the share of organized tourism characterized by the construction of new tourist facilities, hotels, campgrounds in all areas of the region. Tourism entities currently operate in 63 of the 70 municipalities of the region. The share of tourism in the GRP of the Altai Krai with the multiplier effect is more than 6 percent. In the first half of 2015 more than 940 tourism enterprises were functioned in Altai Krai. Compared with 2006 the number of tourist enterprises increased by factor of 2.8, while the number of tourist accommodation almost increased by factor of 1.7. The number of tourists, coming to Altai Krai, is increasing every year. If in 2005 the number of tourists in the region was 0.5 million people, by 2014 this figure increased by a factor of three and exceeded 1.6 million people. According to experts in January-June 2015 entrepreneurs of Altai Krai rendered services for more than 800 thousand tourists and sightseers. During the implementation of the federal target program in the region seven large tourist complexes were being built, which have been already receiving tourists. The total amount of extra-budgetary investments amounted to about 1.5 billion rubles in the creation of tourist industry in 2011. On the territory of the gambling zone “Siberian Coin” gambling and entertainment complex “Altai palace” has operated from 2014, wh ere there are 13 gaming tables and 100 slot machines. Since the beginning of operation of the gambling zone has already attracted more than 5 thousand people. In general, only major projects for the creation of “Biruzovaya Katun” and the “Siberian Coin”, the development of “Golden Gate”, “Belokurikha”, “Barnaul - the mining city” will attract about 70 billion rubles of government and extra-budgetary investment, the creation of more than 11 thousand new jobs, more than 12 thousand new placements will be put into circulation.
