A cheese card will be made from over 20 varieties of cheese. As initiators stated, they pay closer attention to new cheeses created within the framework of import substitution.
The uniqueness of the created product will be registered by members of the International Agency of Record Registration «Interrecord» for entering in the Guinness Book of Records.
The program of the event also includes contests for the best knowledge of cheese, blind tasting of cheeses and beverages, cheese master class, auction of the best cheeses in aid of abandoned children of the Krai, etc.
For 10 years, Altai Krai ranks first in the production of cheese in the Russian Federation. Industrial cheesemaking originated in Altai more than a hundred years ago in the Cossack village Tigirek, nowadays - in the Krasnoshchyokovsky District. Then cheese factories appeared in the villages Verkh - Slyudyanka and Mihaylovka of the Ust-Kalmansky District, wh ere “Swiss” and “Dutch” cheeses were produced. And since 1915, these products produced in the Altai, have been the subject of export from Russia.
The unique natural conditions contribute to such success of Altai cheeses. Nowhere in Russia, there is no more like composition of grasses in pastures for cows and such milk accordingly. Up to the present time, about 50 enterprises of various capacities have been presented in the cheese industry of the region. It is no coincidence that the only festival of cheese in the country is held in the Altai.
