In Altai Krai the number of tourists exceeded the number of tourist flow in Caucasian Mineral Waters and St. Petersburg
The Head of the Federal Tourism Agency Oleg Safonov informed about it the Russian President Vladimir Putin, he said that domestic tourism in Russia in the winter season of 2015-2016 showed growth.
According to the Federal Tourism Agency the early results of the winter season of 2015-2016 show an increase in tourist flow in the country on average by 10 percent. Regional tourism infrastructure is being actively used and developed; the occupancy of collective accommodation facilities is high. In the current winter season the largest number of Russian and foreign tourists was recorded in Moscow (1 million tourists, growth of 22%), St. Petersburg (over 300 thousand tourists, growth of 10%), Krasnodar Krai (more than 470 thousand tourists, in Sochi over 392.2 thousand people, growth of 6%), Kemerovo Oblast (more than 500 thousand tourists, growth of 17%), Altai Krai (380 thousand tourists, growth of 8%), Tatarstan (about 250 thousand tourists, growth of 10%), Stavropol Krai (Caucasian Mineral Waters - 215.3 thousand tourists, growth of 7%), Kabardino-Balkaria (more than 180 thousand tourists, growth of 12%), Adygea Karachay-Cherkessia, the Republic of Crimea and the Republic of Altai.
From the point of view of the Head of the Federal Tourism Agency the most popular resorts, which are ready to receive tourists in the “high” summer season, are resorts of Altai Krai.
Also, according to Safonov the attraction of additional tourist flow by extending the holiday season in Russia's regions is under consideration. In this regard, other (except the beach) promising types of tourism are actively promoted. In particular, the sanatorium resort treatment, sports, cultural and educational, eco-, ethno-, event and pilgrimage tourism.
Meanwhile, Oleg Safonov speaking in January 2016 at Gaidar Forum evaluated the creation of tourist infrastructure in Altai Krai as the most successful in the development of domestic and inbound tourism in the Russian regions.
“In only one Altai Krai the number of subjects, which provide tourist and sanatorium and health services, increased by 173 units and reached 946, the number of places of individual and collective accommodation facilities increased by 1.2 thousand places and amounted to 47.2 thousand, the tourist flow increased from 1.2 million to 1.6 million people,” said the Head of the Federal Tourism Agency.
