Belarus and Altai Krai intend to expand joint assembly production and create new jobs

On 10th August a working meeting of the Governor of Altai Krai Alexander Karlin and Minister of Industry of Belarus Vitaly Vovk was held. The parties discussed the promising areas of cooperation between Belarus and Altai Krai, including the development of industrial cooperation between enterprises of the region and Belarus.


Alexander Karlin noted that the relationships of Altai Krai with Belarus are not only interstate but also interpersonal. “The visit of your delegation - is not only business purpose, and the possibility for personal contacts, sincere communication. Our economic and humanitarian cooperation will be an additional incentive and will promote active socio-economic development of Belarus and our region.


We have well stable relationships, we actively cooperate in the industrial, agricultural and humanitarian spheres. Today, you will visit a number of our companies included in the Altai Cluster of Agricultural Machinery, with some of them you have already successfully cooperated. Today, we have seen good dynamic of development of agricultural machinery industry.


We intend to continue to cooperate actively with Belarus and would like to consider concrete proposals. We plan to buy industrial products, machinery, agricultural machinery. We are also interested in expanding the joint assembly productions and increasing of the level of localization of Belarusian agricultural machinery in Altai Krai and in the Siberian Federal District. At the same time, our region doesn’t intend to be just a market for Belarusian goods, we are interested in the active participation of our companies in the production of these products and increasing the employment of our population,” said the Governor.


The Minister of Industry of BelarusVitaly Vovk thanked for the warm and kind hospitality and noted that Altai Krai and Belarus have long-established contacts.Your region has serious agricultural and industrial potential. We are ready to not only sell our products, but also to produce it here. We are also very interested in it, because Barnaul and Altai Krai have significant technological potential, there are human resources. Barnaul is in the center of the Russian Federation, and it is wrong to import the goods from Belarus further. Why does air import in the form of wheels, facing, when you have companies that produce it? We came here to organize productions, to work together, to formed new jobs here. In 2011, the maximum turnover was about $ 84 million. We must increase it by $ 100 million and above,” pointed out Vitaly Vovk.


Background information. In first half of 2016 the trade turnover between Belarus and Altai Krai, compared to the same period in the previous period, increased by 20% and amounted to more than 20.7 million US dollars (the export - 10.1 million US dollars, imports - about 10.6 million US dollars). The growth of turnover is due to the increase in exports of such commodity groups, as parts of the rolling stock, internal combustion engines, tires, cereals. Imports of cord material for tires also increased.
