Altai Krai lays claim to being the best tourist destination

National Geographic is conducting an online voting for the best tourist destination in Russia and worldwide. Among the nominees - different countries, Russian regions, including Altai Krai. In the nomination “Russian Adventure Holidays” Altai Krai - one of the leaders of the vote and every vote can hasten the victory. Voting will end on November 6, 2016.

 

Online voting will end on November 6, 2016 in 23 categories: “Beach Vacation”, “Family Vacation”, “Mountain Skiing Vacation”, “Excursion Vacation”, “Rural Tourism”, “Health-Improving Vacation”, “Eco-vacation”, “Adventure Vacation “, “Discovery of the Year “,”Best Gastronomic Tour”, “Exotic Vacation”, “Russian Ecological Holidays”, “Russian Excursion Vacation” and “Russian Ecological Vacation”. In addition, the voting will determine: “Best International Airline”, “Best Russian Airline”, “Best Airport”, “Best Online Service”, “Best Hotel Chains”, “Best Beach Hotel”, “Best Cruises”, “Best Internet Service” and “Best Travel Program”.

 

Background information: Altai Krai has traditionally been one of the most attractive places for tourism, active recreation and health. This year, about 750 thousand tourists visited the region. The increase amounted to 12% compared to last year. Capacity of hotels and resorts in the most popular resort areas - in Belokurikha and on the left bank of the Katun river in Altai Krai - amounted to 85-90%.

 

There is the only one operating special economic zone of tourism recreation type “Biryuzovaya Katun” in the Russia, which was established in 2007. In 2008, it began to have visitors. For eight years, “Biryuzovaya Katun” was visited by more than 2.5 million tourists.
