Tajikistan and Altai businessmen want to expand cooperation
In Dushanbe, “Business Forum of Entrepreneurs of Altai Krai and the Republic of Tajikistan” held in the Russian Centre of Science and Culture under the authority of the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in Tajikistan.
“Tajikistan has shown great interest in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with Altai Krai. The experience of this cooperation convincingly shows that the key to a successful relationship is an ongoing dialogue between the business community and the authorities of the parties. And the distance between us has no any significance,” said Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic Odil Sangov.
President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Altai Krai Boris Chesnokov emphasizes that the region is the largest producer of flour and cheese in Russia and ranks the second in milk processing in the country.
“The basis of Altai Krai exports in Tajikistan is formed by the wood, flour and cereal products. Our entrepreneurs are actively entering the Tajik market, developing trade links, promoting and selling their products and services,” said Boris Chesnokov.
Tajikistan has been being consistently among the ten key foreign trade partners of Altai Krai in recent years. Cotton (68.8%) and vegetables (31.2%) are exported from Tajikistan. 100 thousand tons of dried fruits are annually supplied from Tajikistan to Russia. To date, wood products (47.5%), products of the milling industry (25.6%), vegetable oils (4.9%) are in the export base of Altai Krai in Tajikistan. Cooperation are been actively developing in education, inter-institutional relations are strengthening, joint projects are been organizing regarding the organization of training of students and teachers, refresher courses.
At the end of 2015, the turnover of Altai Krai and Tajikistan amounted to more than 23 million dollars.
